Maram is a Malayalam word for tree. Maram resort is surrounded by a lot of forest trees because of which this name was chosen. The blueprint of Maram consists of 9 cottages, a communal building with a restaurant, kitchen, and a reception lounge. The cottages belong to the elevated region of the hillside property that lies to the north so that the customers get a better view of the flora and fauna of the forest.
These consist of a private bathtub and an outdoor sitting area for relaxation. Each room is fully furnished with fans, an air conditioner, Wi-Fi access, and a television for entertainment.
Below the reception lies the kitchen with a restaurant and lounge area. Guests can have their preferred food from there and have complete relaxation in the lounge. A beautiful swimming pool is also one of our highlights where you can swim away from all the heat waves of a day and be cool and comfortable.
The location of this resort makes it very peaceful. There is no hustle and bustle of the usual traffic you observe in cities. Here all you come across is the noise of the vehicles passing by. You will be welcomed by the humming symphony of several birds throughout the day. During the night you might hear frogs and other crickets making noise along with cicadas. If you are lucky then you might also be able to hear the trumpets of elephants and barking of sambar deer. Since the area is rich in vegetation, there are many flowering plants, shrubs, and bushes with fruit trees. Due to these, there are dragonflies, butterflies, and lots of birds around. Troops of monkeys can also be seen near us but luckily these do not come too close to the area of stay. You will be at a safe distance from them.
Throughout your period at the resort, you can enjoy a siesta or explore the entire region to see the forest and its beauty. If interested in bird watching, we can arrange visits to Thattekad and Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. An experienced bird-watching guide will help you there to know more. You can take a relaxing and peaceful stroll around the quiet roads. There are several waterfalls and other water bodies for you to explore and enjoy. If you like to cycle then we have such a bicycle facility too. Apart from that, you can also travel by jeep safari to steep hilly tops where a breathtaking natural view would welcome you. The scenic beauty of the entire forest is a huge charm to our guests.
The tribals living around are very friendly. You can visit them and interact with them too. Tribals show you their skills in weaving baskets mats and other bamboo artifacts. Their music, dance, and songs will entertain you a lot. There are rubber trees present due to which you can witness the entire process starting from latex collection to preparation of rubber sheets. Then there’s toddy palm and the extraction of toddy. The other fun thing to see is the pepper plantation. The entire process is very interesting if you visit during harvest season. Away from the noisy city lights and life, we offer you a time filled with serene peace and a fun getaway.
